In 1919 the Forbes brothers began producing heavy-duty equipment carts for the local movie industry in Hollywood California. Equipment had to be moved constantly as Hollywood film producers created efficiencies by shooting movies in a series of separate scenes. Production schedules were tight, and those behind the scenes chose equipment carts manufactured by Forbes Industries to quickly and easily move their lights, cameras, and sets –when and where they needed them.

By the 1950s Forbes Industries was producing a variety of heavy-duty carts including industrial equipment carts, grocery carts, and janitorial carts for customers across the US. As Americans took to the highways Forbes Industries used its mobile expertise to serve the growing needs of the booming hospitality industry with innovative mobile carts for housekeeping, luggage, and operations.

Released to the market in the 1980s, our iconic Birdcage® luggage cart exemplified our ongoing commitment to mobile 5-star quality. As the first brass cart on the market, these iconic carts created memorable experiences for hoteliers and their guests.

With the establishment of local Convention Visitors’ Bureaus in the 1990s, Forbes Industries was called upon by hoteliers to provide mobile solutions for meetings and events such as mobile bars and back bars, catering stations, tables, and the various mobile carts and equipment needed to host events successfully.
